As soonest as the mornings's soon

For long we have made pillows from lazy afternoons
and slept in comfortable evenings
no sooner than noon did we gather our movements
and sleep caught us in rude awakening of senses

Neither sweet virgin nor adulterating wife
did foresee a rampage such as this
as we have lain our best troops
in the face of the arriving sun

Now i shall dare to wake
such as a pillow dares to straighten its brow
better underspent than overpowered
thy hand I shall take
